Prof. Florence Obi of the Faculty of Education has broken a 45-year record by emerging the first female Vice Chancellor-elect of the University of Calabar, Cross River State.
Chairman of the University Governing Council and the Pro-Chancellor, Senator Nkechi Nwaogu, announced to newsmen yesterday that Prof. Obi emerged victorious over twelve others who were eminently qualified as well
Obi clinched the position on Thursday, September 10 after hours of meeting by the governing council of the institution led by Senator Nkechi Nwaogu.
The screening which was held at the UNICAL hotel conference center lasted for hours and a total of 13 aspirants were screened.
Obi is the 11th Vice-Chancellor of the UNICAL after 45 years since the institution was established.
Responding to newsmen after getting her appointment letter from the governing council of the University, the VC-elect Prof, Florence Obi who is expected to assume work on the 1st December 2020, expressed gratitude to God for having success and pledged to run an inclusive administration
