No fewer than 22, 220 undergraduate students of the University have so far paid their fees for the 2019-2020 Academic Session, according to the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Abdul-Rasheed Na’Allah – University of Abuja’s Page
According to an email to the students, titled “Course Registration and First Semester Examinations,” the Vice-Chancellor, who said about 445 students had yet to make use of the opportunity given to them by the Management of the University, urged them to do that before the deadline.
The University Vice-Chancellor Professor Na’Allah said, “With the new opportunity given to students, I am happy to say that as at today 22, 220 undergraduate students have paid their fees. Not all of this number have registered their courses yet, and about 445 students have still not made use of the opportunity given to them.
“Since 12 midnight today-20 February 2021- is the last day of an extended late course registration specially given for this academic year, I am taking this time to encourage ALL those who have paid their fees but have not registered their courses and those yet to pay fees to use this remaining window to register for their courses for the 2019-2020 academic year!”
The VC declared that anyone who still had a challenge and needed help in registering their courses should write to the Deputy Registrar Academic for help.
He stated that the University would no longer tolerate anyone who did not register for courses at the deadline to remain on campus as students, noting that it is the course registration at the beginning of the academic year that makes every student a full-time student in that academic year.
“If any student knows anyone who has not completed their course registration as at this time, please encourage him or her to do so, as only a few hours are left!” he said.
The VC charged the students to be focused on their exams which would begin next week, expressed hope that “if you (students) follow the rules and do your best, you will earn a fair grade.”
He also directed the students to appeal their grades after having discussed with their course lecturers if they felt that the grades recorded for them were below what they deserved. “They can see the Head of Department if the lecturer declines, and submit a grade appeal letter. Such a process will take its time and at the end of the day, the University Senate is the only body that has the authority to approve a change of grade and order for its reflection in students’ records,” Na’Allah said.
